August 6, 2017 RAD IS HERE!!!!

RAD is an acroynm for Rental Assistance Demonstration and is a new program offered by HUD which serves as an alternate to the Public Housing Program.  Cumberland Housing applied to HUD in November 2015 to convert all five of our Public Housing development over to the RAD program.  On January 10, 2017, HUD announced that the applications for Fort Cumberland Homes and John F. Kennedy Homes had been approved to begin the conversion process.  In August 2017 Banneker Gardens was also approved.

The process of conversion will take several months and final plans will not be confirmed until early 2018.  For more information on the RAD program, please click on the following notices:
RAD Information Notice (RIN) which has been provided to all current residents and all new residents of our Public Housing developments
General Information Notice (GIN) which has been provided to all current residents of the affected developments.

Cumberland Housing looks forward to completing the conversion process and improving the appearance of the developments in our portfiolio.through a major renovation project.  The end result will continue to meet our mission of providing safe, modern and affordable housing to the residents of Cumberland.

July 7, 2017 Closed Waiting Lists

Due to the planned extensive renovation of both Fort Cumberland Homes and John F. Kennedy Homes in 2018, HUD has approved our request to cease further leasing of these developments.  As current apartments become vacant they will not be re-rented.  This will provide for significant vacant units to be available at the time of the renovation which will decrease the inconvienance to those remainng tenants during the construction period.  Once the renovation is completed in the vacant units, current tenants will be moved to new units.  Once renovation is complete the waiting lists for these developments will be reopended.
